My Sacrifice

I was pleasantly surprised when I looked up the lyrics of My Sacrifice by Creed just the other day. Ok, so maybe I'm the last to know that their songs are Christian-oriented (bet you didn't know too, huh!), but after hearing the song so frequently at you-know-where, I found myself singing bits of the chorus without really knowing what they lyrics were about. I thought it was yet another one of those you are my sky, air that I breathe, highly exaggerated love songs.
When I deciphered the meaning of the lyrics, it was like finding free stuff that you just had to share or carry the guilt with you for the rest of your life. (Pardon me for exaggerating. I tend to do that a lot these days) I think the impact of it made it so much more meaningful because of how relatable it was to my life at that point in time where praying seemed to be more like a pastime and did it only when I was free. But this accompanied the fact that I've learned that I can't live like this - doing the things that I feel like doing - anymore. Not when it comes to Mr. G.
Lent's here. What a perfect song for the season.
My Sacrifice
Hello my friend we meet again
It's been a while
Where should we begin
Feels like forever
Within my heart are memories
Of perfect love that You gave to me
I remember
When You are with me
I'm free
I'm careless
I believe
Above all the others
We'll fly
This brings tears to my eyes
My sacrifice
We've seen our share of ups and downs
Oh, how quickly life can turn around
In an instant
It feels so good to reunite
Within Yourself and within Your mind
Let's find peace there
I just want to say hello again
I just want to say hello again...
